The Alwaleed bin Talal Foundation has donated electric generators to three villages — Samayer Al-Bayda, Duwerj and Al-Qate — in the Asir Region.

The number of homes that benefitted from the foundation’s donation as part of the “Lighting Up Lives” project are 25 houses in Samayer Al-Bayda, 10 houses in Duwerj and 47 houses in Al-Qate.

The “Lighting Up Lives” project has resulted in literally bringing light into people’s lives in the Kingdom’s most remote locations across 400 villages, benefiting more than 42,343 households. The foundation achieved this by installing power generators that have a 10-year life span. These villages are not covered by the national power grid.

“The ‘Lighting Up Lives’ exemplifies one of the basic tenets of Alwaleed bin Talal Foundation — that of offering help where it is needed desperately,” the foundation said in a statement.
