NAJRAN: The health department here has launched a probe into the death of a woman after a caesarian section to deliver her baby, and accusations that the surgeon removed her womb without the family’s consent.

The woman’s husband, Hassan Al-Eisoor, told a local publication recently that he took her to the hospital at 12 midnight on Sunday April 10, with the surgery taking place at 2 a.m. the following day. She gave birth to healthy baby girl, he said.

He said that she was taken to a ward but then started bleeding profusely at 7 in the morning.

The family was able to provide blood donors and at 9 a.m. he claimed a doctor came to tell him that her womb had been removed. He said this was done with his permission.

However, his wife continued to bleed, with the doctors providing her more than 15 units of blood. “The bleeding then stopped for two hours and then her blood pressure went down and she was taken to the intensive care unit.

“I asked the doctor to transfer her to King Khaled Hospital in the area and he refused because of her unstable blood pressure. On the third day we were told she had died,” he said.

Al-Eisoor said he has filed a complaint against the hospital, calling for a full investigation. He said he would not take her body until the investigation is complete.
