The Saudi Observatory for Social Media has ranked Arab News as the most influential daily in Saudi Arabia in the print category in the Kingdom, while in the digital media sphere, Arab News online interactions qualified the paper to be the third most influential newspaper on social media.
The report was launched by Ankaba in 2013, the first Saudi website that specializes in observing and documenting the interactions of Saudi society on social media.
The 80-page report includes a list of the most influential bodies and individuals on social media. The compilers of the report surveyed around 700 million interactions on social media websites.
The lists were divided into four major classifications in terms of influence including personalities, brands, government bodies, and Saudi newspapers and magazines.
The report is the first of its kind and uses innovative measures to observe the circles of influence and influencers on social media websites.
The report aimed to measure the social impact of various sectors in Saudi Arabia, including the online and the print media, and the most influential portals on the social networks in the country according to their professional activities during the first half of the year 2014.
