Riyadh Gov. Prince Turki bin Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz launched Aramco’s iThra Knowledge program, along with Khalid Al-Faleh, chief executive officer (CEO) of Saudi Aramco.

The program, launched on the second day of Eid and poised to last for one month, includes various family friendly activities of a cultural, scientific, creative and entertaining nature aimed at contributing to national efforts to foster a knowledge-based society.

The program was created by Saudi Aramco’s King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture, still under construction by Saudi Aramco in Dhahran.

“Activities will be showcased in a safe and attractive environment while taking into account Saudi values and traditions,” the company said.

“The program aims to juxtapose education with entertainment through the participation of young energy.” The program, which is open to the public daily between 5 p.m. and midnight, provides developmental opportunities to more than 500 young volunteers to strengthen life skills and knowledge in an interactive environment.

The program includes a “names of Allah” exhibition and an energy efficiency expo that sheds light on national challenges vis-a-vis energy waste.

Another exhibition showcases the golden age of Islamic civilization, while a “creative studio” collaborates with YouTube, The Tinkering Studio and San Francisco’s Exploratorium museum, a learning laboratory, to discover children’s scientific talent.

This is the third such program, which has garnered 1.65 million attendees this year.
