A man who is accused of killing his wife after she demanded a divorce during a dispute is set to go on trial for the crime.

New details have emerged about the gruesome killing and the reported abuse suffered by the victim in the months leading up to her death.

The victim, Ghadeer, had been beaten and hurled, head first, onto a tiled floor in front of her sister, who had rushed to her mother for help at the time.

The mother then called the Red Crescent, who had arrived at the scene as Ghadeer took her final breath.

The man was arrested on the spot and sent to prison, but court sessions on the case only started in mid-May at Abha’s criminal court.

Ghadeer’s mother says that her daughter’s body has still not been released, but that she would attend the hearings and would not give up getting justice for her murdered daughter, who was also a mother.

She said her daughter had to undergo surgery three months before her death after bleeding profusely, saying she must have been attacked with a sharp object inside her womb and stomach.

The woman also said that the suspect’s own family had testified against him.

Investigation and forensic analysis indicate that most of the blows Ghadeer had received were by a shoe worn by technicians at workshops.

The mother also accused the man’s brothers of attempting to kidnap Ghadeer’s son, Abdulrahman, and called on authorities to protect them. The Bureau of Investigation and Public Prosecution referred the case file for forensic testing.

The mother said she saw the final report, which showed that the victim had suffered a broken pelvis, broken ribs and a fractured neck. Her head had been smashed and her intestines ripped, in addition to damage to her liver and spleen.
