JEDDAH: Fifteen people were killed and two injured in a collision between two cars on Haima Road, Wadi bin Hashil on Saturday evening, the Saudi Red Crescent Society (SRCS) in Asir region said.
Among those killed in the accident were six children. The two seriously injured patients were transferred to Hayat Medical Hospital, he said.
The SRCS received a call about the traffic accident at 5:14 p.m. and eight ambulances were immediately dispatched, Ahmed Ibrahim Asiri, a spokesman of the society, said.
“Along with the eight ambulance teams, an advanced response team was sent to the scene of the accident in coordination with the emergency department of the Health Affairs and other parties concerned,” he said.
Such was the impact of the collision that one of the car caught fire, which was later doused by the Civil Defense personnel, who managed to take out the trapped people in the cars.
