The teachers of Al-Juhaifa school in the Asir Province say their journeys to and from school have become life-threatening owing to the poor condition of the road which is prone to fatal accidents.

They have called on the authorities to pave the road in the south of Asir. Currently, Aqbet Al-Qurun is a narrow dirt road with bumps and ditches causing the teachers a two-hour long suffering both ways.

Ahmed Asiri, a teacher told Arab News that the difficult commute put the lives of six teachers in danger recently. The car they were traveling in on their way back from school, overturned but luckily they all survived with only minor injuries, he said.

The teachers hoped that the authorities would pay attention to this dangerous route and have it paved. Aqbet Al-Qurun is one of the stumbling projects that should have been taken care of two years ago.
