A Saudi man from Baha shot dead his wife and two children before committing suicide, Qunfudah police said.

The bodies of the four were found Friday in a car along the Jeddah-Jazan highway. The police have launched a probe into the incident.

Col. Badr bin Saud, director of public relations at the police directorate in the Makkah region, said the Qunfudah police received a call Friday morning about an abandoned car with four bodies inside along the Jeddah-Jazan highway.

“Our officers rushed to the spot and found that the four had died of gunshot wounds a day before,” the officer said.

“According to preliminary information, the father shot his wife and children dead before ending his life,” he said, adding that the Qunfudah police have obtained the gun used for the crime.

A relative said the man and his family had left their house in Baha on Thursday and were planning to visit the wife’s parents in Tihama before going to Jeddah for Qur’anic treatment. “He was looking weak for the last one month and had been receiving Qur’anic healing.”
