RIYADH: The Bangladesh mission in Jeddah has sought permission from the next-of-kin of its four countrymen, who died in Thursday’s terrorist attack in Asir, to complete their final rituals in Saudi Arabia.

Mohammed Bilal Hussain Mohammed, Afzaluddin Noor Nabi, Jidon Abdul Hameed and Mainul Mirza were among 15 people who were killed in the blast. They hailed from various districts in Bangladesh.

Twenty-one-year old Yousef bin Sulaiman Abdullah Al-Sulaiman carried out the suicide bombing at the Special Emergency Forces Center Mosque in Asir.

The Interior Ministry has released the names of the 15 martyrs, which included 11 Special Emergency Forces (SEF) officers and trainees.

“We are in the process of communicating with the next-of-kin to seek their approval to bury the four bodies in the Kingdom or repatriate them to their respective home stations,” said Bangladesh Consul General A. K. M. Shahidul Karim.

He said the mission would act in accordance with the wishes of the victims’ families.

Four Bangladeshi nationals were also injured in the blast, said the diplomat.

Three of them are being treated at Asir Central Hospital. A consular official in Asir has been assigned to look after their interests, said Karim.

He said the fourth person, who was critically injured, has been admitted to Riyadh Security Forces Hospital. The embassy in Riyadh is looking after his interests.

The Bangladeshi blast victims, including the four martyrs, were working for Al-Yasrah Company — contracted to provide cleaning and maintenance services to the security complex in Asir.
