JEDDAH: The High Commission for the Settlement of Labor Disputes compelled a bank to compensate its branch manager of SR100,000 for forcing him to end his services without a legitimate reason.

It also asked the same bank to pay out SR200,000 to an employee because she was dismissed without a valid reason.

The commission said its decisions were final and must be executed with police help if necessary.

The Primary Commission for the Solving of Labor Disputes in Jeddah has asked the bank to reinstate the female employee as a bank manager and issue her back pay from the date she was dismissed.

The bank presented its objection, saying that the female employee in question was transferred to Taif but didn't resume her work and it was decided to end her services according to Article 80. The bank pointed out that the preliminary ruling to reinstate the employee is unfair and violates the law, in addition to being confusing and full of mistakes.

The bank added that the ruling totally disregarded the bank's interests and its efforts at taking disciplinary action.
