Saudi Border Guard patrols thwarted an attempt to smuggle 35 hand-grenades and 32 other explosive devices into the Kingdom.

Col. Abdullah Al-Hamrani, spokesman of the Border Guard in Asir, revealed that the thermal monitoring system detected three individuals infiltrating the Kingdom’s borders by foot.

Al-Hamrani relayed how the Border Guards monitored the smugglers as they moved closer into Saudi territory and then were pursued. The infiltrators managed to escape, leaving behind the explosives.  The Border Guards have been active in arresting a number of arms traffickers along the border with Yemen.

In addition, the Border Guards also foiled another trafficking operation at Bani Malik area in Jazan involving weapons.
