The Civil Defense has recovered the bodies of two expatriates swept away by floods in two separate incidents in the country.

The body of a Pakistani expatriate was discovered on Wednesday evening in Adham, in an area called Sabeihat Bani Dhabyan, about 14 km from the spot where he was swept away in his vehicle.

Col. Saeed Sarhan, spokesman for the Civil Defense in Makkah, said a citizen accompanying the search and rescue teams found the Pakistani's body.

The search teams included officers, citizens and mechanics from Jeddah and Qunfudah. Members of the teams had used heavy equipment to clear away rocks in the rugged valley area during their operations.

The man's body was found in an isolated area on the side of the valley that was covered with mud and grass from the floods. A Civil Defense ambulance transported the body to a local hospital.

In Bani Rizq, south of Aradhyah, which forms part of Makkah, Civil Defense teams recovered the body of a drowned Arab expatriate on Wednesday night.

Sarhan said that rescue teams found the Arab expatriate's body in mud. The team led by Sgt. First Class Ali Awad Al-Qarni, managed to retrieve the body.

Sarhan urged citizens and residents to be cautious and stay away from valleys during heavy rains.

In another incident, Sarhan said that the Civil Defense had received a report that a person had fallen into an aquifer in Bani Rizq, in south Aradhya.

A team of divers from Qunfudah, which was sent out to search for the person, found some clothes and a mobile phone.

Operations have been difficult because the farmland is muddy. In addition, the area has been dug up to create 15-meter deep holes in the ground to collect water. The rescue teams had to pump out the water with special equipment. The rescue effort continues.
