RIYADH: Official spokesman for the border guards Col. Marine Saher bin Mohammed Al-Harbi said the command and control center of border guards at Rafha sector foiled, on Tuesday, an attempt by two persons to smuggle narcotics. The two, who were walking toward the Saudi border after crossing the Iraqi border, were monitored by the guards.
The guards intercepted them and one them surrendered himself. The area was combed and the other man was found dead. Next to his body was found two bags containing a large quantity of narcotic amphetamine tablets (187,275 pills).
Body of the deceased was taken to a morgue. The confiscated drugs were handed over to the competent authorities and an investigation was launched.
