RIYADH: The Presidency of Meteorology and Environment (PME) on Wednesday predicted rain, thunderstorms and strong wind over several parts of the Kingdom from Thursday until Monday.

There would be inclement weather over large sections of central, western and eastern Saudi Arabia, including Makkah, Baha, Asir, Jazan, Najran, Bisha and Khamis Mushayt.

It is also expected to affect Jeddah, Laith, Qunfudah and the coast of Jazan, especially on Friday and Saturday accompanied by heavy sandstorms. The weather is expected to clear on Friday.

The PME and the Civil Defense have warned members of the public to be careful when heading outdoors. In Baha, residents have been told to call the toll free No. 940 in cases of emergency.

Earlier, the PME warned that the coming summer would likely be the hottest on record, with temperatures of over 50 degrees Celsius in some areas.
