The Mayoralty of the Eastern Province plans to build a bridge connecting Imam Ali Road with King Fahd Road in Dammam.

Fahd Al-Jubair, Eastern Province mayor, said that the project is part of a plan to improve intersections in the area, alleviate traffic jams and improve services, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

"There will be two lanes on each side of the bridge. The bridge itself will be 655 meters long and 17 meters wide. Motorists can drive at speeds of up to 70 kilometers per hour on the bridge. It will cost over SR 67 million," he said.

"The studies are now being finalized. The mayoralty will start in the coming period to implement a new project for a tunnel under the intersection of Prince Muhammad bin Fahd with Imam Ali Road. It will cost SR 985,051. The total tunnel length will be 1,500 meters. The body of the tunnel directly under the bridge will be 918 meters long and 24.62 meters wide. It will be a two-way bridge leading to three areas," he said.

Jamal Al-Mulhim, deputy mayor, said that the mayoralty has a plan to connect the northern part of Dammam with the southern part, to ensure a free flow of traffic. "We have already built a bridge on the intersection of Prince Naif Road and King Fahd Road. We have now finalized plans to build a bridge on the intersection of 18th Street with King Fahd-Dammam Road, northbound only. It will be 635 meters long and nine meters wide, at a cost of over SR 37 million," he said.
