Authorities have prohibited the construction of new hamlets and villages along the border in accordance with higher directives.

The decision was made to facilitate the jobs of border guards, who often find it difficult to distinguish between infiltrators and citizens.

Sources said border guards had filed a recommendation to relocate border villages at least 10 km within Saudi territory to enable them to distinguish between the two. A recommendation to this effect has been made with the Ministry of Interior.

“Studies conducted by border guards found it necessary to relocate these hamlets to maintain safety and security,” said border guard officials.

Hamlets and villages can only be relocated according to higher directives, sources said.
