MAKKAH: A Saudi, in his 40s, is being investigated after claiming to have accidentally fired his gun at his 10-year old daughter and injuring her.

Col. Aati bin Attia Al-Qurashi, spokesman of the Makkah police, was quoted as saying by local media on Saturday that the security operations room received a 999 emergency call on Friday night.

“The girl received a bullet injury in her right shoulder and was admitted to the King Abdulaziz Hospital in Al Zahir. Her condition was stated to be normal by hospital authorities,” Al-Qurashi said.

The Bureau of Investigation and Prosecution and the Makkah Police Department are conducting the investigation, the spokesman added.

The man would always clean his pistol before using it, and may have accidentally pulled the trigger, he said.
