CAIRO: Egyptian security forces have identified the kidnappers of the Saudi businessman, Hassan Al-Sind.
A spokesman said the criminals had been involved in 20 crimes, including kidnapping and armed robbery.
Al-Sind said the kidnappers wanted him to talk to his family and negotiate a ransom of 5 million Egyptian pounds in exchange for his freedom.
The Egyptian security forces were in contact with the five kidnappers who were a gang specializing in theft of various kinds. Some of the group had previous criminal records for kidnapping, carrying firearms and had 20 previous convictions.
Investigations showed the men moved between three provinces, including Cairo, Suez and Ismailia. Investigations are going on under Brig. Jaad Al-Haq to nab all the criminals.
Assistant Interior Minister Brig. Ali Al-Ghazawi, head of the Ismailia police, said that the criminals were fleeing justice but that there was a special security team monitoring them.
Al-Sind said the kidnappers took him to remote areas in rough neighborhoods and that they had “bedouin” accents. He was held in a room made of wood. He said they were constantly on the move before finally setting him free on a desert road between Ismailia and Suez.
