RIYADH: The Cabinet on Monday condemned the “genocide” being committed by Bashar Assad’s forces against civilians in Syria.
This includes the “heinous massacre” perpetrated by these forces at Al-Kamounah camp. He said the ministers stated that the blocking of humanitarian aid to the Syrian is a war crime.
The Cabinet also welcomed the decision taken by the Arab League Council at the conclusion of its extraordinary meeting in Cairo, condemning the brutal practices committed by the Syrian regime against the civilian population in Aleppo and other parts of the country
Minister of Culture and Information Adel Al-Toraifi said that the Cabinet also reviewed reports on the latest developments in the region and the world.
Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman briefed the Cabinet on the message sent to Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the emir of Kuwait, and the results of his talks with President Rock Marc Christian Kabore of Burkina Faso, during which they reviewed the bilateral relations between the two countries.
On domestic affairs, the Cabinet welcomed the honoring of the winners of the King Abdulaziz Book Award and Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman Award and Grant for Studies and Research on the History of the Arabian Peninsula. This was helping to preserve the region’s rich heritage, he said.
The Cabinet further hailed the king’s support for the fund of martyrs and those injured in the line of duty. These people were at the forefront of protecting Islam, and ensuring the stability and security of the country. The efforts of the security forces in thwarting and arresting terrorists were also lauded, said Al-Toraifi.
Later, the Cabinet announced several decisions including authorizing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to discuss a draft pact with the Arab Bureau on Combating Extremism and Terrorism (ABCET).
The Cabinet approved the structure of the National Center of Assessment of Public Agencies; and a policy on organic agriculture in the country aimed at producing high-quality food products in the Kingdom.
The Cabinet approved an agreement with Indonesia on the recruitment of Indonesian domestic workers; amendments to health laws regarding women; and the re-structuring of the board of directors of the Irrigation and Drainage Authority in Ahsa for three years to be headed by the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture.
