JEDDAH: The Cabinet on Monday lauded the efforts of the King Salman Center for Humanitarian and Relief Works in meeting the requirements of the Yemeni people under the directives of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman. It said there should be efforts to intensify aid for those Yemenis in need.

The Cabinet praised the Kuwaiti security forces for arresting members of a terrorist cell planning to destabilize the country’s security, and the confiscation of a huge arsenal of weapons, ammunition, missiles and explosives.

At the local level, the ministers spoke about the opening of the ninth Souk Okaz and stressed its leading role in preserving the Kingdom’s culture, heritage and creativity through a variety of functions and programs.

The Cabinet took several decisions including the government bearing the cost of customs duties for Palestinian products over one year. It also authorized the minister of commerce to conduct talks on a memorandum of understanding with Algeria on the protection of consumers and commodity control.

The Cabinet also approved the expansion of the Saudi Building Code (SBC) to include representatives of several ministries including interior, municipal and rural affairs, housing, transport, water and electricity, commerce and industry, and the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology.

Other members would be from the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization, the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu, Saudi Engineers Society, Survey Department, Saudi Aramco, four from Saudi universities, and one member from the Council of Saudi Chambers. The Cabinet also approved several appointments at various government agencies.
