New litigation procedures will be presented at the Court of Grievances and new legal proceedings and criminal proceedings at the Council of Ministers on Monday. The measures are part of the judicial reforms introduced by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah.

“The Cabinet will discuss and approve the new judicial system and present it to King Abdullah for endorsement,” an official statement said. Experts have finalized the new judicial system on King Abdullah's directives to make the Kingdom’s judiciary more effective and transparent.

Saudi Arabia intends to build 180 courthouses this year. Majed Al-Adwan, who leads the project at the Ministry of Justice, said the ministry is working hard to provide the proper environment to help streamline and speed up the litigation process through technology.

The project to overhaul the judicial system was announced in October 2007 and it included the allocation of $2 billion for training judges and building new courthouses.
