JEDDAH: The first phase of the Ministry of Education’s national campaign, in cooperation with the Ebsar Foundation’s “Eye Spy” program to detect visual problems of kindergarten and elementary students has ended, and the second phase of the campaign will be launched in October in 360 schools.

Mohammad Tawfik Bellow, secretary general and the driving force of the foundation, revealed on Monday in a meeting that the second phase of the campaign will launch next month in 360 schools from Jeddah, in addition to Riyadh,

Alkhobar, Madinah, Abha, and 60 schools from Tabuk including the ten schools of King Salman Military City in Tabuk, which will cost up to SR6 million.

Bellow stated that the national vision campaign rehabilitated 50 public health and anti-disability management programs to help fight visual and hearing impairments.

He said that plan to launch the second phase of the campaign came about due to the excellent results of the first phase, where the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Social affairs, as well as a number of other agencies were involved.

Bellow said under the guidance of Abdullah bin Ahmad Al-Thaqafi, the director general of education in Jeddah, since the beginning of 2015 in the “Eye Spy” program, more than 13,600 children went through the program with the help of 410 volunteers.
