Ten people were killed and 18 injured when the car in which they were traveling overturned on a road in the Asir region on Tuesday morning, said Ahmed Asiri, Asir’s Red Crescent spokesman.

“Eleven rescue teams from the Red Crescent and surrounding hospitals were immediately dispatched to the site to assist Civil Defense authorities and security forces in rescue operations,” the spokesman said.

“Upon arrival, teams had found the Toyota Sequoia overturned with everyone inside.”

The fatal crash had occurred on a road in Tathleeth. The injured were transferred to the Tathleeth General Hospital for treatment.

The driver was one of the victims, while four of the survivors are said to have sustained severe injuries.

Road accidents in the Kingdom claim thousands of lives every year.
