JEDDAH: A Jeddah court recently considered the case of a murderer who killed his sister, who was a resident at a shelter house in Jeddah.
The accused appeared before three judges after the attorney general issued a statement of charges against the young man, who is facing the death penalty.
The court informed the accused that he has the right to hire a lawyer and it handed over the accusation statement for his reply in writing at the next hearing in mid-Muharram.
The accused, during the investigation, confessed and described his actions at her workplace in Jeddah, and signed a confession of his crime before the Bureau of Investigation and Public Prosecution.
According to local media, the accused is a single 23-year-old man, and he is a student of machine engineering at a university and lives in Tabuk. The accused acknowledged that he has full mental capacity and that he deliberately killed his sister by shooting her five times with a gun. He also denied he had a partner, mastermind or plotter.
The accused justified his crime by his family’s objection to his sister’s marrying a young Arab resident, as the family did not want her to marry him. This is in conjunction with a court verdict of not accepting his sister’s marriage to the resident after a lawsuit in favor of the murdered girl.
The accused said he went to Makkah to perform Umrah and returned to Dammam. Then, he left for Madinah in his own car and stayed for four days at his family’s home, and then returned to Jeddah and went to his sister. He met with her at the house for social protection and asked her to change her mind, but she refused. He left the site and went to Madinah where he stayed for four days and then returned to Jeddah by car.
According to the investigation, the accused admitted that on the night of the incident, he waited in his car for his sister inside, next to the company where she was working. A gun was in his possession and he was disguised in Pakistani clothing. When the victim came out of the house, he shot her five times.
