JEDDAH: As many as 148 needy families have received electrical home appliances under the “House preparations” program by the Nafa Charitable Society here recently.

Professor Saeed bin Ibrahim Al-Zahrani, director general of the society, said charities play a crucial role in serving the orphans, people with special needs and needy families.

“The recent program was a part of the society’s efforts in strengthening values and serving people,” he said.

The appliances that were distributed included refrigerators, dishwashers, ovens, conditioners, vacuum cleaners and irons, said Al-Zahrani. “A total of 888 people belonging to 148 families benefitted from the program. The total cost of the appliances was SR210, 650.”

Al-Zahrani said families submit applications with the charity’s office for home appliances. “The charity implements a number of services throughout the year, like food basket program, Ramadan iftar and breakfast programs, Eid clothes for the children of needy families, orphans and children of prisoners , Zakaat Al-Fitr, monthly food baskets, monthly financial aid to orphans, back to school and courses programs and entertainment programs,” he said.
