RIYADH: Deputy President of the Grand Mosque Nasir Al-Khuzaim said that children of martyrs in Jazan were honored in a fitting ceremony on Sunday night in Makkah.
“Aside from the children, families and immediate relatives were also present to witness the ceremony which was held as tribute to the martyrs,” Al-Khuzaim said.
He expressed his thanks to “all who those who have extended support, particularly the Saudi leadership headed by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman.”
He also thanked others who have extended support such as businessman Mansour bin Saleh Alwanies to help organize the ceremony and providing benefits given to the martyr’s beneficiaries.
“We’re in debt to various people for supporting us in our efforts and attempts to give tribute to the martyrs as due recognition for them who laid down their life for the sake of the country and religion,” he said.
He added that the idea for the ceremony started when “we attended a ceremony at the southern border to honor our martyrs and we suggested that their families bring their children when they perform Umrah at the Grand Mosque.”
“For the convenience of the martyr’s families, we also arranged that they be relocated to Makkah from the southern border so that they could live a peaceful life,” Al-Khuzaim said.
He added that they have been provided with housing facilities near the mosque.
Others who were present on the occasion included Major Gen. Mohammed bin Wasil Ahmadi, Grand Mosque security forces commander; Major General Ali bin Said Al-Ghamdi, assistant security director for training; and Dr. Lt. Gen. Bassem Amin Al-Badri, director of Makkah Traffic.
