The Disabled Children’s Association organized a special event to mark the occasion of the National Day celebrations in Jeddah at the King Abdulaziz Center on Saturday.

More than 200 children, their families, government departments such as the Civil Defense, National Guard, Jeddah Police, Jeddah Marine, Jeddah Traffic, Saudi military department and agencies participated in the celebrations of the 84th Saudi National Day at the Mall of Arabia with different activities.

Zuhair A. Maimini, director of the center, told Arab News that National Day celebrations are very important which is evident from the large number of government departments and families which participated in the event showing that they care about the country and their society.

He also said that disabled children are an important part of society and that the activities marking the National Day would help them learn about the history of the nation, the importance of unity, patriotism and loyalty to their homeland.

He noted that Saudi Arabia holds an important place on the world map owing to its hosting the two holy cities. “So it’s time to show the world our unity and love for our country,” he said.

Maimini also said that education and awareness about Saudi culture and lifestyle, and religious education, justice and security are all very important and “through today’s celebrations, we will teach children how important all these are for the safety, prosperity and stability of their country.”

He thanked Prince Sultan bin Salman, chairman of the Disabled Children’s Association, for his support in providing the best services for disabled children in the country.

Salwa Ali Al Mahmadi, assistant director of the center told Arab News: “We want to show how we take care of our children and that even children with special needs have to know about the history and importance of their country. Our goal is to draw the attention of the society to the disabled children and help them feel part of the community,” she said.
