The Interior Ministry has applauded the Civil Defense and the media for spreading preventive awareness among residents during the holy month of Ramadan and the peak Umrah season.

Interior Minister Mohammed bin Naif commended the efforts of the Civil Defense in the field of preventive awareness during Ramadan and its benefit from the local and international media in the dissemination of a culture of safety among Umrah performers, an Interior Ministry spokesman said on Thursday.

He added that he welcomed media performance in raising preventive awareness in a cable addressed by the minister to Maj. Gen. Suleiman Al-Amr, director-general of the Civil Defense.

Earlier, the minister was briefed on the directorate’s press file, which monitored what has been published in local and international media on the works of the Civil Defense during Ramadan and Umrah.

The safety awareness campaign, launched by the Civil Defense, is considered a major part of the Interior Ministry’s strategy based on fulfilling its aims and objectives of enhancing public safety and security, maintaining public confidence and raising community awareness.

A Civil Defense official here said that under the campaign, safety teams intensify visits to various establishments to ensure there are no violation of rules that threaten public safety.

“The Civil Defense and media awareness campaign is also vital during the Haj season to ensure public safety,” the official added.
