Officers of security patrol will police the Kingdom's streets and highways in cars painted black and white instead of the current blue and white in line with a directive of Interior Minister Prince Mohammed bin Naif.

This is to distinguish the vehicles of security patrol from those of of other security agencies.

Director General of Public Security Maj. Gen. Osman bin Nasser Al-Mahrraj said the interior minister made this decision after his visit to the headquarters of Jeddah Public Security on Thursday.

The ministry is currently studying changing the military uniform for security personnel working in the security patrols sector.

The change of uniform will differentiate these security men from other security departments such as police officers and traffic police. The new uniforms will be similar to the special outfit worn by emergency forces as well as Hajj and Umrah forces.

This decision is a part of the development plans pursued by Prince Mohammed of restructuring the ministry’s administrative and developmental organization.

The plans include the separation of some sectors that used to fall under the General Directorate of Public Security, making them independent.

Each sector is granted specific powers and duties which contributes to the efficiency of the different security sectors in general.
