The case of student found sleeping in front of a school gate in Madinah after school hours has created a furor among education authorities in the Prophet’s city. Nasser bin Abdullah Abdulkarim, Director General of Education in Madinah, gave orders to form a committee urgently to look into the matter of how a child could have escaped the notice of the school authorities.

The committee would be chaired by the Director of the Office of Education in the eastern part of the city in which the school is located.

Abdulkarim has asked the committee to take over the investigation in this case and look at the daily and weekly attendance sheets of the school’s teachers so they can hold accountable those accused of negligence.

Omar Al-Barnawi, director at the Education Directorate in Madinah, confirmed the formation of the committee in a press statement.
