The Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) recently launched a website to recruit Saudi engineers of both sexes to replace expatriates leaving their companies because of the amnesty period ending on Nov. 3.

Abdul Nasser Al-Abdul Latif, the site supervisor, reportedly said that 800 engineers, the majority Saudis, applied for jobs since the SCE launched the website over 20 days ago.

The site allows recruiters to check the qualifications and work experience of applicants. It also lists jobs available at local companies.

Al-Abdul Latif said most of the applicants are seeking to change jobs. He rejected claims that many are unemployed.

He said the SCE wants to determine how many engineers are looking for jobs.

He said a “significant number” of women have applied for jobs.
