RIYADH: The Qassim municipality has issued sanctions against project consultants involved in asphalting roads in Buraidah city.

The municipality also fined the engineers, contractors and others working under the project consultants who have been accused of not doing their work properly.

The municipality said that the road projects are being undertaken in order to keep pace with Buraidah’s increasing population and the number of vehicles using the city’s main arteries.

The municipality, represented by the Agency for Reconstruction and Projects, said that the project consultants had earlier been asked to improve the level of supervision in asphalting the roads of Buraidah.

The municipality alleged, however, that the consultants had fallen short of expectations after municipality representatives inspected their work.

The representatives said that the finished work was inferior and not in accordance with the standards set by the municipality.

The municipality asked the project consultants to improve their work and imposed a fine of two months’ salary on them.
