JEDDAH: A book published by a local university and now on sale in the market explicitly authorizes suicide bombings against those described as “apostates” and “kafirs.”

According to a report in a local publication, the book includes several photos of suicide bombings and features a whole chapter on how women can carry out such operations.

The author of the book, Sami Khaled Awad Al-Hamoud, based the contents of the book on hundreds of fatwas and personal legal ideas and opinions, including the views of Taqiuddin Al-Nabhani, the founder of Hizb ut-Tahrir.

The book also includes legislative justifications for targeting civilians, journalists and media personnel in wars. The book was written by Sami Al-Hamoud as part of his master’s degree program at King Saud University in Riyadh. His work was supervised by Hassan Abdulghani Abu Ghudda, professor of law at the university.

The first edition of the book, entitled “Commando Operations and Its Images and Jurisprudence,” was published by Al-Rushd Library in Riyadh in 1433.

It includes 442 pages and the author states in the introduction that his book is intended only for “legitimate jihad operations.”

Mansoor Al-Nogaidan, the director of Al-Mesbar Studies and Research Center, said the fiqh of jihad for Muslims has not been subjected to any factual benchmarks or references.

“The book comes under this category because it was not based on factual reference. It is merely a viewpoint that takes certain armed operations as examples,” said Al-Nogaidan.
