Courts in the Kingdom have received at least 7,210 cases related to human rights and other crimes in a single month, local media said quoting statistical data released by the Ministry of Justice.

In September, Riyadh’s General Court received 3,008 such cases (43 percent of the total cases), a local daily reported. Jeddah courts came second with 1,593 cases, followed by Makkah at 1,244, Dammam 716 and Madinah 649 cases.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Justice has embarked on the expansion of a remote litigation service to link between courts and prisons in a number of regions.

Earlier, the Higher Judicial Council approved remote trial techniques, which paved the way for the ministry to launch this service, marking a qualitative shift in judicial work with due speed and safeguarding all Islamic law-related matters.

This step comes within the context of the development of legal work that falls within the project of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah to develop judicial facilities, the paper said.
