RIYADH: Crown Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, deputy premier and minister of defense, reassured the nation Monday about the health of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

Chairing a Cabinet session at Al-Yamamah Palace, Prince Salman prayed for the king's good health and quick recovery, said the report.

SPA earlier said top members of the royal family visited King Abdullah a week after he underwent surgery to tighten a ligament in his back.

During the session, the Cabinet was briefed on reports on the latest developments at Arab, regional and international arenas, notably the Egypt-brokered truce to end fighting between Israeli and Hamas forces in Gaza and moves to end Israel's "inhumane siege on the Gaza Strip," said the report, quoting Culture and Information Minister Abdulaziz bin Mohieddin Khoja.

The Cabinet also reviewed a number of scientific, cultural , and economic activities and the Kingdom's participation in a number of meetings at international forums.

Minister Khoja said the Cabinet also expressed its appreciation for international support for King Abdullah's initiative for dialogue among followers of religions and cultures, which culminated on Monday with the inauguration of the King Abdullah International Center for Inter-religious and Intercultural Dialogue in Vienna, Austrian, with the aim of spreading human values, promoting tolerance and the achievement of peace, security and stability for the peoples of the world.
