Children from the Philippines, United Kingdom, Japan, Indonesia, United States, India, Palestine and Morocco participated recently in the sixth International Children’s Festival aimed at celebrating cultural diversity.

The Ministry of Culture and Information hosted the event at the King Fahd Cultural Center from Nov. 17 to 21.

The festival showcased cultures from all over the world and presented various activities including painting, creating art, storytelling, puppet making, flower arrangement, computer games, rescue training and dental check-ups.

The Philippine Embassy and three Filipino schools in the Saudi capital presented folk dances. The Second Philippine International School, Elite International School and International Philippine School in Riyadh presented Sayaw sa Banko (Dance on a Bench), Paru-Parong Bukid (Field Butterfly) and Bulaklakan (Flowery Dance), respectively.

The children of the staff of the Philippine embassy sang “I am but a small voice.” The Philippine booth attracted hundreds of visitors and highlighted handicrafts and tourist attractions in that country.

On the last night of the festival, the ministry awarded the Philippines a certificate of appreciation for its participation. The ministry organizes the event annually to allow children of various nationalities to socialize and interact.
