RIYADH: Three international schools were recognized as the winners of the Quiz Bee on Filipino History in an event organized by the Philippine Embassy to mark “Buwan ng Wika,” the country’s National Language Month.

Riyadh International School was awarded first place, Palm Crest International School came second and Al-Dannah International School third. The students received medals and certificates from the embassy.

On the occasion, Philippine Ambassador Ezzedin H. Tago said that the diversity of cultures and languages among Filipinos is what brings them together as a nation.

“What was equally valuable, aside from knowing important events in Philippine history or speaking Filipino fluently, is for everyone to recognize,” he added.

The event was attended by First Secretary and Consul Mary Jennifer D. Dingal and Social Services Attache Perlita Panganiban, who recited a famous story by Dr. Jose P. Rizal before a select group of children.

The event was participated by teams from each of the six Philipine schools based in Riyadh. The teams consisted of 3 members from Grades 5-7 and were questioned about famous people, dates and events in the Philippine history.

Other schools that participated the event include Al-Taj International School, Elite International School, and International Philippine School.
