JEDDAH: The Ministry of Education plans to revamp the primary school curriculum in a bid to keep pace with the latest developments at this level of learning.

Education Minister Azzam Al-Dakhil recently issued an order to set up a higher commission to oversee the process because of the “importance of the primary stage in building a student’s personality and total development.”

The committee would look at making changes to the curriculum, provide training for teachers, and other measures needed to prepare children at this level, a local publication reported recently.

The committee would be tasked with seeking assistance from experts in the Kingdom and abroad, and set up subcommittees. The committee members include education undersecretaries for boys and girls, the general supervisor for curriculum and educational programs, undersecretary for school affairs, and adviser at the ministry Abdul Aziz Al-Nemlah.

Saeed Al-Mujadaeh of the educational supervision administration for boys and Nada Ismael of the girls’ education supervision administration would be the committee’s secretaries.

Meanwhile, Abdul Rahman Al-Barrak, undersecretary at the ministry, inspected the programs and activities at summer clubs in Riyadh on Thursday.

Director General of Education in Riyadh Province Muhammad Al-Murshed, who accompanied Al-Barrak, said these clubs aim to provide useful programs for boys and girls during the summer vacation.


The Riyadh education administration opened 65 seasonal clubs for boys and girls providing scientific, cultural, sports and amusement programs.
