JEDDAH: Education experts have renewed their call for urgent measures to raise awareness among Saudi youngsters against the aggressive acts of Daesh terrorists.
Their appeal to employ more student guides and instructors in schools follows the brutal act of the twin brothers who killed their mother, injured their father, and stabbed a third brother in Al-Hamra neighborhood.
“We must address this misguided behavior which seeks to destabilize security and social peace by spreading extremism and murder,” said Saad Falayan Almedith, a psychological guidance and counseling supervisor.
Academic experts say that the lack of specialists in psychology, sociology and social services in the education sector is a major reason for youngsters going astray, local media reported.
Aqil Al-Baqawi, an educational activist in student guidance, said: “We hear about the crimes of Daesh which are affecting our children. We should stand strong and be united in our response.”
Al-Baqawi added that the crime committed by the twins is seen as a response to the call of the Daesh devil, which poisons the minds of children.This is more dangerous than drugs.”
Al-Baqawi stressed the need to focus on the issue of guidance in schools with the appointment of more specialists in psychology and sociology, and to pay attention to the students’ personality development.
Zaina Abdullah Al-Omari, an educational trainer in the education department in Riyadh, said: “Our youths are in great need of intellectual education.”
She said that people should address the Daesh threat tith unity.
Saad Falayan Almedith, a psychological guidance and counseling supervisor, said: “Our children fall into the clutches of deviants at times. This is contrary to our Islamic faith and values which are built on virtue, compassion, and social solidarity.”
He added: “We must fight this deviant behavior and think about stepping up our countermeasures based on tolerance and compassion. We must also instil patriotism and loyalty in our children.”
