The number of dengue fever infections has risen to 35 in the Kingdom.

The Ministries of Health and Agriculture both claim their officials discovered the first cases in Najran.

The Ministry of Agriculture said its team discovered the dengue virus-bearing mosquitoes following visits and tests in the city.

However, Saad Mounis, the general director of health affairs, said the department of infectious diseases under his jurisdiction discovered the mosquitoes in Al-Faisaliyah district, a downtown area of Najran.

Mounis said the team also found similar mosquitoes in Al-Fahd district a few days ago. He said the Najran health department notified other government agencies for further action.

A team under the supervision of an entomologist conducted field surveys to watch and control the situation on the ground, he said.

Several citizens called on the ministries to fight the mosquito menace.

In a separate development, the Ministry of Health warned citizens against dealing with a Korean national who claims to be a doctor.

Hyun Suk Yum claims to heal chronic diseases and disabilities through “Brain Reset Therapy.” He has been using social media websites to advertise his healing powers.

Health authorities attempted to contact the so-called doctor, but there was no answer. Upon verifying his status with South Korean authorities, it was discovered that he didn’t have a medical certificate and his center wasn’t registered with the Korean Ministry of Health.

The ministry impressed on citizens and residents not to fall prey to medical claims that don’t have a scientific basis, because some people exploit patients’ needs. The ministry stressed the importance of relying on information from authoritative sources only.
