A bogus dental clinic that lured Haj pilgrims to have silver and gold dentures fixed by making pilgrims believe that it was part of the Haj rituals has been caught by the fraud control unit.

Health affairs staff and security agencies also helped in exposing the fraudulent business run by Asians.

The clinic was housed in an annex of a residential building in Al-Alawi neighborhood. The police seized a number of fake dentures, some dirty equipment and cash in various currencies and denominations.

Muhammad Sulaihim, director general of market affairs at Madinah municipality, said the inspection was conducted by the fraud control unit following suspicion that three expat workers were fixing such dentures on pilgrims.

“The culprits were handed to Al-Alawi police station and dental material was seized in the raid. The apartment has also been sealed and the three individuals will be referred to security agencies for further action,” he said.

Sulaihim urged citizens and residents to be more careful and not fall prey to such clinics because they pose a health and safety hazard.
