Prince Mohammed Bin Nayef Bin Abdul Aziz, general directorate of Passports, will combine starting today some departments with the Directorate General of Prisons and the General Management of Security Patrols.

Col. Ayoub Bin Hijab Bin Naheet, director of Public Affairs and spokesman of the General Directorate of Prisons, said that the process of separating of the detention department (deportation sector) with the Passports Department will entail that all branches in the regions and provinces be included in the formation of the prison sector.

The Passports Department will continue action against violators of the residence and work system by virtue of jurisdiction.

Directives were issued from the director general of Prisons, who supervises the Detention Department. The director of the division in this department in all regions and provinces is assigned to stop arrivals in their respective locations, noting that the officers and personnel transferred from the Passports Department will begin their duties in all detention centers with the official attire of the employees of the General Directorate of Prisons.

Hijab declared that prison managers would supervise personnel and follow-up on the process of receipt and delivery in each respective district no later than nine o’clock in the morning on Sunday.

Managers will personally monitor that work is taking place in its new conjunction at eight o’clock in the morning at all arrivals’ detention departments in different regions.

Committees established to design the mechanisms of the merge have completed the arrangements in all sectors, and employees in the passport patrols will begin the process of transition to security patrols of the public security department according to the new resolution.

The new resolution aims to give them wider powers and jurisdiction to pursue and catch violators of residency and work regulations, and then refer them to the department of prisons as a prelude for interrogation by the competent authority in the investigation and prosecution association.
