The Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) is considering signing a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Justice. This will facilitate the use of 500 experts from the council to serve in engineering dispute cases and offer engineering litigation in cases being reviewed in courts.

SCE Secretary-General Ghazi Amin was quoted as saying in the local media that courts are reviewing more than 400 cases a year with regard to engineering disputes. He pointed out that judges used engineers before in these cases, and we are looking forward to offering this service to judges according to accurate measures that contributes to achieving justice.

He said there are three classes for engineering litigators in the council; the first is the technical expert who presents a technical report for the judge in the reviewed cases, while litigator B and A have the right to issue rules in engineering cases. He pointed out that the council carries out a number of procedures and tests to define the classification of the engineering litigator, in that he should have full knowledge about contracts.

He said the relevant committee verifies documents offered by those who wish to litigate defining the classification of the litigator. The number of technical experts in litigation reached 500 in the council and work is under way to develop and train experts to reach higher classifications.
