An embassy-on-wheels (EOW) team rendered consular services to 209 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) on Friday and Saturday at the Al-Bustan Hotel in Arar.

“I thank the Filipino community in Arar on behalf of Ambassador Ezzedin H. Tago for their help in extending consular services during our two-day stay in Arar,” said Vice Consul, Winston Dean S. Almeda, who headed the team. It is estimated that there are about 1,000 OFWs in the region.

The team was able to encode 204 e-passport applications and process two documents for notarization and authentication, in addition to authenticating two birth reports and one passport extension.

“We did our best to accommodate individuals seeking our services during our stay,” Almeda said. Arar, which is located near the Kingdom’s border with Iraq, is also the name of a Saudi-Iraqi border crossing.

He also expressed the hope that OFWs in the Kingdom, especially those in remote areas, would avail of embassy services whenever an EOW team visits their area.

The next Filipino consular outreach program will be held on Oct. 11-12 at the Al-Jazeera International School in Alkhobar.
