DAMMAM: Public transport projects in the Kingdom are still in the preliminary design phase, but the Eastern Province is ready to become the first in the Kingdom to embrace such transformation, said EP Mayor Fahd Al-Jubair.

This, he said, because its citizens and residents are accustomed to using public transport for the last 50 years, mainly due to their working in major companies in the region.

During the opening of municipality projects at Ain Dar Center, Al-Jubair said: “Service and quality project schemes in Ain Dar are continuing. Projects have achieved a high completion percentage include buildings of the municipality, central market, the urban center and the slaughterhouse, along with two parks, football pitches and pedestrian tracks,” confirming that the total cost of all these projects is estimated at more than SR20 million.

The mayor said the EP Municipality is currently studying a number of new projects in the city of Ain Dar, according to the needs of its citizens, and will allocate the budgets required to implement them at the times specified.

For his part, Sultan Al-Zaidi, the mayor of Ain Dar said: “The municipality is currently preparing for the opening of these projects that have been completed, while others are nearly complete.”
