Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sissi are expected to visit Saudi Arabia on Saturday and Sunday respectively for talks with Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman.

The Anatolia news agency said Erdogan would begin his three-day visit to Saudi Arabia on Saturday.

Egyptian presidential palace sources confirmed El-Sissi’s visit to the Kingdom on Sunday.

Ali Al-Tawati, a strategic expert, spoke on the significance of state visits by the two powerful leaders to realize regional balance in the Middle East. “Egypt and Turkey are two strong allies of Saudi Arabia,” he said.

The forging of a strong alliance between the regional powers would strengthen security and stability in the region and prevent interference of super powers. It can also confront the terrorism menace, he said.

Al-Tawati said the region was facing threat from Iran on the east and Ethiopia on the west, adding that the latter has threatened to cut water to Egypt.

He emphasized the role of GCC and Arab League in bolstering regional stability.

He hoped Saudi Arabia’s efforts to reconcile Egypt and Turkey would succeed. He said the new alliance would prevent IS from getting funds and weapons.

“It will also prevent interference of foreign powers in Yemen,” he added.
