In a major clampdown on transport firms in the capital, inspection teams from the Ministry of Transport in Riyadh uncovered 72 violations in transport companies and the car rental business in the city.

The ministry slapped fines amounting to SR263,500. Establishments operating without a license were fined SR85,000, while 27 entities were fined SR135,000 for operating unauthorized branches.

The teams also found 15 rental car companies in violation of the Nitaqat, or Saudization, law and fined them SR150,000. Eight firms found were found operating with expired licenses. They were fined SR24,000.
