Pakistan scholar Dr. Muhammad Suhail Umar will deliver a lecture on “Poet of the East — Dr. Muhammad Iqbal” on Wednesday here at 9 p.m. at Lasani Spinzar, said Athar Nafees Abbasi, president, Aalami Urdu Markaz (AUM), Jeddah.

Abbasi said the symposium is being organized by Majlise Iqbal, an offshoot of AUM, under the supervision of Dr. Irfan Hashmi, chairman, Majlise Iqbal, and Amir Khurshid, program coordinator.

An expert on Iqbal, Umar is currently the director of Iqbal Academy in Lahore, Pakistan, and is credited with editing several magazines on Iqbaliyat in Arabic, Persian and Urdu languages.

Several poets and scholars are expected to attend the symposium.
