JEDDAH: A total of 16,000 citizens who have applied for teachers’ posts at schools run by the Education Ministry are a confused lot because wrong information is being provided by fake account holders on Twitter.

According to reports appearing in local media, the job applicants browse the sites “Mathas” and “Mashkas” as well as other accounts for information on the results. However, these sites are full of wrong information from unknown sources.

The Ministry of Civil Service has reportedly not made any statement to familiarize the job applicants with the schedule, results and names of those selected.

Hamad Al-Muneef, official spokesman of the Ministry of Civil Service, tried to answer the inquiries of the applicants on his Twitter account, but could not present a clear picture, but said that the results would be announced during the month of Ramadan.

“The ministry is still, with efforts of the Ministry of Education and the National Center for Measurement and Evaluation (Kiaas), in the process of addressing the problematic issue of some of the applicants. The ministry seeks to be very accurate and just in this regard so that no applicant is exempted without a rational reason,” Al-Muneef tweeted.

The number of applicants for the 6,018 jobs announced by the Ministry of Civil Service stood at 16,000, most of whom are tense because the results are yet to be announced. The grace period for applicants to specify the preferred work locations ended on June 17, and not on July 10 as previously stated.

A number of graduates were quoted by a local publication that they could not enter the selection process because the grace period to apply for the vacancies ended before they received their graduation certificates.
