Social science experts are set to discuss the future of Saudi families within 10 years at the seventh forum for marriage and family care organizations in Saudi Arabia, which will be held on Feb. 11. The forum is expected to put forth approximately 30 scientific papers under the forum’s title: “The Saudi family in 10 years.”

Researchers involved in these presentations will deal with the impact of social media and global change on the Saudi family construct, as well as factors contributing to — and procedural solutions for — infidelity.

The forum will also seek to provide a proposal to address the phenomenon of spinsterhood in the Kingdom, a charitable endowment model, and a field study of family problems.

Dr. Mohammed Al-Abdulqadir, forum chairman and general secretary of Weaam Organization specialized in family care and marriage affairs, said that the issue of family affairs is a sensitive chapter in any society. This gives the forum a great sense of importance for researchers, research centers and state institutions.

He also said that there is a close association between crime level, intellectual and moral deviation and the level of stability within the family. “Attention to family affairs and supporting voluntary organizations working in this field will strengthen the performance of government agencies, particularly the security ones,” he noted.

“Scientific and accurate diagnosis has revealed that many community problems that affect sensitive points in life are associated with family issues. The best way to achieve high levels of community safety requires the highest degree of attention to study family affairs and take care of them,” he concluded.
